Celebrations as we Open our New Outdoor Classroom for Early Years Pupils

We proudly unveiled our brand-new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) outdoor classroom yesterday, marking the culmination of a year-long fundraising effort.

The opening ceremony was attended by key supporters, including The Grantham Lions, who generously donated £1,000 towards the project, and Belvoir Property Services Ltd, who provided vital assistance in constructing the facility. The Grantham Rotary Swimarathon also donated £1,000, allowing for the heart warming moment when one of the pupils cut the ribbon to officially open the new facility.

Guests were treated to a festive start as EYFS children, dressed in their Nativity costumes, performed two Christmas songs. Among those in attendance were members of the Community Inclusive Trust’s Executive Leadership Team, which oversees the school.

After the ribbon-cutting, children and special guests enjoyed hot drinks and mince pies together, adding a warm and seasonal touch to the celebration.

Headteacher David Milner expressed his gratitude, saying:
“This has been a long-awaited day, achieved through the incredible efforts of staff, pupils, and parents. Thanks to generous contributions from our extended school community, including The Grantham Rotary Swimarathon, Tesco, Asda, and The Grantham Lions, we’ve been able to create an outdoor classroom that allows our youngest learners to enjoy outdoor education in all weathers.”

Gayle Ellis, EYFS Lead for the Trust, highlighted the educational benefits:
“Outdoor play is essential for developing confidence, independence, and social skills. Our new covered seating area provides a safe, all-weather space where children can read, role-play, and learn together. They absolutely love it.”

The new facility represents a significant step forward in enhancing early years provision at Isaac Newton Primary School, ensuring pupils have access to enriching outdoor learning opportunities year-round.
