Gingerbread Trophy Final – Match Report
On Saturday, our Isaac Newton team travelled to Grantham Town FC to compete in the Gingerbread Trophy Final, having secured qualification at our recent tournament. The fixture took place on the main stadium pitch ahead of Grantham Town’s match against AFC Mansfield – an exciting opportunity for our players to showcase their skills in a fantastic setting.
Playing 7-a-side with two 10‑minute halves, the team made an electrifying start. From the first whistle, crisp passing opened up space, allowing striker Charlie to seize an early opportunity and score within the first two minutes.
Our defensive line – Thomas, Henry and Austeja – demonstrated excellent positioning and awareness, shutting down attacks and helping to build play from the back. On the wings, Mary and Adriana worked tirelessly up and down the pitch, delivering dangerous crosses and supporting both defence and attack. In midfield, Max, Luke and Cole put in outstanding box‑to‑box performances, protecting the lead while continuing to create chances.
Arthur took charge in goal for the first half with great composure, and when he moved up front in the second half, he added his name to the scoresheet. Wallace was superb between the posts after the break, making confident distributions that helped drive the team forward.
At the final whistle, the team celebrated a well‑deserved 6–1 victory for Isaac Newton – a true squad performance from start to finish.
A huge well done to every player. Your dedication, teamwork, and commitment to extra practice sessions really shone through, proving once again that hard work pays off. Thank you also to the parents and family members who came along to cheer the team on – the players loved having your support.
A very worthy trophy and medal win. Well done, everyone! UP THE APPLES! 🍎🏆⚽
