School Runners Shine at Cross Country Event

Isaac Newton pupils recently demonstrated outstanding determination and team spirit at the Grantham Schools Cross Country event, held at the Meres Leisure Centre.

With a challenging one-mile course ahead, the school entered teams from both Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. Each group competed within their respective age categories, joining large fields of runners – over 100 children in the Year 3/4 race and more than 80 in the Year 5/6 event. This meant that participants not only had to pace themselves over the distance but also navigate through crowded conditions.

Despite the size of the competition and the demands of the race, Isaac Newton pupils rose to the occasion. They ran with impressive determination and resilience, proudly representing their school every step of the way. Their efforts were rewarded with a series of excellent results, including multiple top-10 finishes across the races.

Conditions on the day added to the challenge. With unseasonably warm spring weather, the races tested the endurance and focus of every runner. Nevertheless, the children embraced the experience with enthusiasm and courage, taking on the course with their usual positive attitude.
